Biography

Alex Staniforth, an extraordinary individual renowned for his expertise in resilience and overcoming adversity through daring adventures. At just 27 years old, Alex has already experienced and triumphed over the two greatest disasters in Mount Everest history as a teenager. However, his personal challenges have been much closer to home in Cheshire, where he has faced epilepsy, a lifelong stammer, bullying, depression, and eating disorders since childhood.

Despite these obstacles, Alex’s indomitable spirit has driven him to remarkable achievements. At the age of 17, he scaled Mont Blanc and single-handedly raised over £35,000 in corporate sponsorship while still in school. His first attempt to conquer Mount Everest in 2014 was cut short by a tragic avalanche claiming sixteen lives. Yet, undeterred, he returned at 19, only to survive an avalanche in the Khumbu Icefall triggered by the Nepal earthquake, which trapped his team on the mountain for two harrowing days.

Converting adversity into opportunity, Alex has since raised over £100,000 for charitable causes and authored two books, “Icefall” and “Another Peak.” In 2017, he shattered records by becoming the fastest person ever to conquer all 100 UK county tops by bicycle, foot, and kayak, traversing over 5,000 miles in just 72 days, earning him a prestigious Pride of Britain award. In 2020, he tackled the National Three Peaks solely on foot, completing an astonishing 452 miles or 17 marathons in a remarkable span of 9 days and 12 hours.

As an inspirational and keynote speaker, Alex’s passion lies in inspiring teams and leaders to embrace adversity and realize their own “Everests.” Combining insights from his adventurous journeys and ultra-endurance feats with genuine vulnerability, he shares actionable tools that audience members can apply to conquer their personal and professional challenges.

Prepare to be inspired by Alex Staniforth’s captivating storytelling, tangible insights, and unwavering determination. Invite him to your next event, and let his incredible journey empower your audience to overcome their own challenges with strength and resilience, leading them to summit their personal and professional heights.

Testimonials

International Compliance Association enjoyed a hugely inspirational and thought-provoking talk from Alex Staniforth yesterday. The distillation of his own personal challenges and incredible experiences into practical, helpful advice makes for a highly compelling session. Many thanks, again, for such an awesome and inspirational story.

Rob Phillipson, MD

International Compliance Association
Alex’s preparation for the presentation was meticulous, he customised his presentation to my need, message, and audience. The timing was good, the message was brilliant and the whole team were captivated with his story. The message of overcoming obstacles to still come out on top was simply thrilling.

Dan Hallett

VP Health & Hygiene, Reckitt Benckiser
You were “pitch perfect” today and delivered a sincere and compelling story of inspiration. I know that it was meaningful for the team as I have already received several messages of thanks for your presentation. Please enjoy the holidays and make sure to give yourself some of the “gifts” you speak so eloquently about

Cindy Keaveney

Chief People Officer, Randstad Sourceright
You brought together a large and varied audience of different roles, ranks and departments, and your presentation gave them the platform to step out of work, devote some time to themselves and their own mental health, offering your perspective and some techniques they can go away and use, and to realise that they are not alone.
To link your expedition to COVID was brilliant and allowed us to think about things differently. Sometimes the approach to mental health within organisations as big and cumbersome as ours can feel a bit of a tick box, superficial exercise, but your sessions felt very different, very real, very humble and very authentic. In my view, you will have made a difference much bigger than you may think or ever know.

Chris Mead

Chief Superintendent, Cambridgeshire Police
Alex delivered a virtual motivational speech via Skype to circa 150 leaders in our business. The event was very well received with many leaders commenting on the relevance of Alex’s journey to our challenges and since the event several leaders have linked back to Alex’s content – describing their “resilience rucksack” and the question “are you pulling on the rope?” has entered our lexicon.
I was particularly impressed with the preparation and tailoring Alex was able to do to make the message even more pertinent to our business – it was a truly inspirational session summed up by one comment – “I can’t believe you just paid us to listen to that!

Robert Neale

GM, Core Manufacture, Rolls-Royce Submarines
Thanks so much for coming down to talk with the team. You absolutely hit the brief – everyone has been talking about it ever since.
It also encouraged one or two people to open up about their own anxieties and stories later in the day. And we had some really healthy conversations.
We have all adopted the slogan of “leaving base camp” and will be evangelising across the business about it.

Paul Kiddle

Contract Manager, National Grid
Your presentation was riveting, engaging and inspirational. We have received such overwhelming feedback on how your story resonated with the team and how it was what they needed at such an appropriate time.
